Resuscitation of the child and infant

If you are rescuing a stranger or a sick child and you have concerns about contagion then do not perform artificial respiration! Concentrate only on chest compressions!

Remember:
• Breathing volume should be adjusted to the size of the child (to the visible elevation of the chest)
• During rescue breaths in infants, ensure a neutral head position; in older children, tilt the head back.
• In children, replacement breaths are important.

Technical features of the compressions:

• in line with the body's axis
• fingers or palm in the middle of the sternum
• 1/3 of the depth of the chest
• frequency: 100 - 120 / min
